Laredo College has adopted the I Love You Guys Foundation's Standard Response Protocol (SRP) to standardize how we communicate and respond to emergencies impacting our campuses and people. The SRP supplements the institution's emergency procedures by providing consistent, clear shared language and actions that all students, faculty, staff and first responders can apply during any emergency. Through this approach, members of the campus community will utilize the SRP actions of HOLD - SECURE - LOCKDOWN - EVACUATE - SHELTER to define their decisions during a crisis.
SRP is Action Based
The Standard Response Protocol (SRP) is based on the response to any given situation not on individual scenarios. Like the Incident Command System (ICS), SRP demands a specific vocabulary but also allows for great flexibility. The premise is simple - these five specific actions that can be performed during an incident. When communicating these, the actions is labeled with a "Term of Art" and is then followed by a "Directive". Execution of the action is performed by active participants.
